In Giovanni 14:6, Gesù promette di mandare un altro Consolatore. Nel vers. 26 Egli identifica il Consolatore come lo Spirito Santo. Forse che questo implica che lo Spirito Santo sia un'altra persona dell'Essenza divina? No, è chiaro dal contesto che lo Spirito Santo è semplicemente Gesù in un'altra forma o manifestazione. In altre parole, 'un altro consolatore" significa Gesù nello Spirito, contrapposto a Gesù nella carne" (UPC).

Modalists claim it is very clear from John 14:16 that the Holy Spirit coming when Jesus leaves, is really Jesus not leaving after all but staying and changing modes. Clear as mud maybe! Jesus plainly said, "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth". Modalists would have you believe that Jesus asked himself to send himself! Rather, Jesus told us he would leave the earth and go to heaven where he would ask the Father to send the Holy Spirit back to earth. Now that is CLEAR!

"Gesù torna in cielo con il Suo corpo glorificato per poter stabilire un nuovo rapporto con i Suoi discepoli facendo ritornare il proprio Spirito come il Consolatore. Egli disse loro: ' è utile per voi che io me ne vada; perché, se non me ne vado, non verrà a voi il Consolatore; ma se me ne vado, io ve lo manderò' (Gv. 16:7)" (UPC). 

Ancora, i modalisti credono che sia chiaro ed ovvio che ciò che Gesù intende qui è che: "Se Gesù non lascia la terra e non ritorna in cielo, Egli non può rimandare Sé stesso dal cielo sulla terra". Ciò che qui è chiaro ed ovvio è che il modalismo è una falsa dottrina che non può spiegare così pretestuosamente il chiaro significato della Bibbia.
